Shottery School Pupil Wins Stratford Area Firework Safety Poster Competition
Charlotte Rose a pupil at Shottery C.E. Primary School has won first prize for her firework poster in the under 7 age category of the Stratford area Firework Safety Poster Competition 2009.
Charlotte will be presented with her prize on Thursday 10th December 2009 at 9.00 a.m. by an officer from Warwickshire Trading Standards Service, organisers of the competition.
Warwickshire County Councillor Richard Hobbs, Portfolio Holder for Community Safety said: "I would like to congratulate all the children who took part in this year’s Firework Safety Poster Competition; the number of entries was fantastic. A great deal of time, effort and imagination was obviously put into the design of each entry.
"Warwickshire Trading Standards Service works hard to help ensure that Bonfire Night is a safe and enjoyable event for everyone and I hope that this year’s competition helped children to think about the dangers of fireworks, and how they can keep themselves safe."
Over 970 children took part in this year’s competition. The competition is a fun way of helping children to think about the dangers of fireworks and reduce the number of firework related accidents.
The competition winners (ten in all across the counties five districts and boroughs), will each receive a £10 book token and see their poster enlarged and reprinted in time for it to be used as part of next year’s competition.
