Success for county cooks
Warwickshire County Caterers were delighted to be nominated for two awards at this year’s national Blakemore Food Service Catering Awards held last week.
The two school catering teams shortlisted for awards were nominated by the County Caterers management team in recognition of their hard work and commitment.
Catering Manager Anne Osbourne and team from Nicholas Chamberlaine Technology College were nominated for ‘Customer Service - Public Sector’. They had we had to give examples of excellent customer service, demonstrating how they have listened and responded to customers and developed robust training policies.
Catering Supervisor Lesley Reddington and staff from Middlemarch School were nominated for ‘Your Catering Team - Public Sector’ which involved evidencing exemplary practice with focus on why the team is special. The judges were impressed with the attention to detail evidenced by the team who always go the extra mile to encourage children to try new food by producing easy read menus, photographing dishes and decorating the school dining room.
Middlemarch School were successful in their category, beating other public sector representatives from residential homes, hospitals, civic centres and schools to scoop the award at the ceremony at the Hinckley Island Hotel on Thursday 3 December.
Lindsay Higgins, Development Manager for Warwickshire County Caterers said: “We were delighted when Lesley collected the winner’s award for Middlemarch School. In our eyes both teams were winners who did extremely well to be in the final three in each of their categories.”
Warwickshire County Councillor Martin Heatley Portfolio Holder for Resources said: “I am delighted to hear that once again a team from Warwickshire have received national recognition for a job well done, my congratulations go to all involved."
The awards ceremony is an annual event run by AF Blakemore and Son, the United Kingdom’s largest privately owned distribution company. Blakemore Foodservice is one of the country’s leading suppliers to the catering industry.
County Caterers, Warwickshire County Council’s catering arm, provides school meals to nearly every primary and almost half the secondary schools in the county.
