Extra support at Christmas

For most of us Christmas is a time of joy and celebration but for some it can bring many challenges.

Anxiety and depression are common mental health problems which can be brought on over the festive season by family tensions, debt and grief.

Warwickshire County Council is highlighting the range of support available, including Christmas opening hours for wellbeing centres on its mental health website   http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/mentalhealth for anyone wishing to seek advice and information.

Dr Graeme Betts, Strategic Director of Adult, Health and Community Services at Warwickshire, said: “We want everyone to have an enjoyable Christmas but appreciate that the time of year can bring added pressure or feelings of isolation resulting in anxiety and depression. If you feel you need extra information and support, you can find out more through the Warwickshire mental health website or through your local wellbeing centre.”

Over the past year a number of new resources have been introduced across the county for people with low-level mental illness who wish to seek their own help. Wellbeing centres are based in the following locations:
