Gritters in action during cold snap

Warwickshire County Council’s highway teams have been trying to ensure the county’s roads remain as safe as possible during the current cold snap.

With temperatures dropping below freezing and snow flurries in the area, the gritters have been in action, gritting six times in the last three weeks.

They will be going out again during the early evening today when the road temperatures are forecast to drop below zero.

Cllr Alan Cockburn, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for the Environment, said: “Warwickshire’s gritting teams are ready to respond to all weather conditions. A MET Office update this morning indicates there is low risk of snow touching the south west of the county today.

“This will be monitored closely and we will be gritting early evening. All salt stock levels are now restocked to our maximum capacity.”
