Why follow your county council on Twitter?
Warwickshire County Council has become one of the latest councils to start posting news on the popular social networking service, Twitter, at http://twitter.com/wcc_news.
The council is continually updating it’s Twitter feed throughout the day with short news headlines and links to more information from its website, http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk.
But why would you want to follow your county council on Twitter?
Recent Twitter posts (or ‘tweets’) by Warwickshire County Council include:
· information on grants available now to local community groups
· how to get a new ‘portion calculator’ for Christmas that is available free online
· an update on gritting during the current cold snap
The aim of the county council’s Twitter news service is to provide people with yet another way of receiving the latest news and useful information on all the services that the council provides.
By following the council on Twitter, you can be one of the first to receive this information as soon as it is sent out.
And, as long as you have internet access, either on your computer, laptop, mobile phone or iPhone, etc., you can keep up-to-date wherever you are.
Warwickshire County Council also has a school closure Twitter service, which can be followed at http://twitter.com/wccschoolclosed. This is updated with the latest school closure information, as and when it is available.
