Fire crews tackle blaze in freezing temperatures!

Fire crews have battled freezing temperatures of –6, during the night to tackle a blaze at Pentagon Press on Heathcote industrial site in Leamington.

Warwickshire County Council’s Fire and Rescue Service were called to tackle the blaze at 4.14am. At the height of the incident nine appliances with around 35 firefighters were in attendance.

Incident Commander, Simon Ellershaw said: “Fire crews have been working in freezing temperatures throughout the night to tackle the blaze. It was so cold that the water from the hoses was freezing on the ground.

“The fire was in one large building on an industrial estate, which comprises of four units. Firefighters tackling the blaze have worked tirelessly through the night to stop it from spreading through the whole unit and managed to contain the fire to just one business. Fire crews are now damping down at the incident and a fire investigation team will be looking into the cause of the incident. “

Pentagon Press is completely destroyed by fire damage. The building itself is unsafe and part of the roof has collapsed. The other businesses in the unit will be affected today, until the building can be made safe for use.
