Firefighters tackle charity challenge!

Firefighters from Warwickshire County Council’s Fire and Rescue Service have raised £259.73 for Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance.

The money was raised through a combination of selling raffle tickets at Rugby matches and player contributions. The firefighters team had another great game and convincing win over their county council colleagues on 2nd December 2009, which is when most of the money was raised.

As the two teams clashed for the third year running, it was the Fire Service that took the early initiative and went on to finish the game 50-5.

Training Delivery Watch Manager, Mark Allen said: "It was a great night and we were very happy with the win. However, the night was not only about Rugby, it was also another opportunity to raise more money for our chosen charity, Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance.

"On the night we raised £259.73 through a combination of raffle tickets and player donations. This makes the total raised in the last six months to over £700, a very good effort I am sure you would agree!
“I would like to thank everyone who attended and gave their support to both sides and the charity on the night, especially from the Air Ambulance and the Chief Fire Officer, Graeme Smith. I would also like to thank the committee at Leamington Rugby Club for their support and the use of their pitch on the night.”
