Career choice help for young people
Students will be getting a helping hand with their career plans thanks to a special event later this month, organised by Connexions Coventry and Warwickshire.
The career choice day at the Herbert Art Gallery in Coventry will offer Year 10 and 11 students an insight in to the opportunities available to them once they have completed their secondary level education.
Exhibitors, including representatives from Connexions, local colleges, sixth forms, universities, training providers and employers will be on hand during the event held between 11am and 2pm on Saturday 30 January 2010.
Rosie Jones from Connexions Coventry and Warwickshire is organising the event and said: “This is an ideal opportunity for young people to have their career questions answered as well as finding out what’s available to them after they leave year 11.
“Thinking about leaving school and future careers may seem a long way off for most students but it is always good to have an idea about what to expect and the opportunities available after compulsory education.
“There will be a lot of exhibitors at the event, so it is a great opportunity to get free advice from a range of professionals.”
Connexions Coventry and Warwickshire is run by CSWP Ltd, a membership of organisations including Warwickshire County Council, Coventry City Council and the Learning & Skills Council among others.
There is a Connexions office in every secondary school and Further Education College across the county, and also at Connexions One Stop Shops in town centre offices. To find the nearest to you, call 024 76 607900.
Young people can also get confidential help and advice by contacting Connexions Direct any time between 8am and 2am on 080 800 13 2 19 or go to http://www.connexions-direct.com.
