Free kicks in Brownsover
Football for all the family is available at Boughton Leigh School Field every Saturday morning until the end of the school year.
Warwickshire County Council’s Extended Services has teamed up with Rugby Borough Council to provide a fully qualified coach who is funded by the ‘Action for Wellbeing in Warwickshire’ project and a venue for parents, mums and dads alike, so that they can join their youngsters aged between 5 and 11 years for free football sessions.
The sessions take place between 9.30 and 11am and as well as offering children a chance to improve their footballing skills, will also give parents a chance to showcase their skills. However, only accompanied children can be accepted.
Chris Blay, Extended Services cluster co-ordinator, Rugby North, said: “This is a great example of how Extended Services makes the most out of the resource a school provides to provide an activity outside school hours for all the family to get involved in. There are great physical benefits for the child and if parents are involved, it is more likely that exercise will become part of the whole family’s lifestyle.”
Action for Wellbeing in Warwickshire is part of the Living Well Scheme and targets communities and families to encourage healthier eating and improve people’s mental well-being.
Activities include exercise groups, weight management groups, walking schemes as well as cooking and nutrition clubs.
