Thousands turn to website for snow advice
Thousands of people have logged on to Warwickshire County Council’s website to find out essential information during the January snow fall.
Between January 4 and today (January 14), the website link http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/snow has been viewed 90,450 times.
The page provides a host of information and links including latest news, weather updates, school closures, recycling information, library opening, travel advice and social care news.
Cllr Heather Timms, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for Customers, Workforce and Partnerships, said: “In just ten days since we launched this page it has been viewed more than 90,000 times. We are constantly looking at ways to provide information to people in a medium that best suits them.
“If we had not provided this information people would have had to seek it elsewhere, even if just ten per cent of those who viewed the web page had telephoned it would have meant more than 9,000 telephone calls into Warwickshire County Council by people seeking information – a cost to them and a cost to us.
“I know our customer contact centre is extremely busy taking snow related calls, and without the website they would quite literally be snowed under.”
