Learn ways with beautiful beadwork

Warwickshire County Council’s Heritage Education Service are offering the chance to be inspired by the collections of Warwickshire Museum and learn some basic skills for making your own uniquely styled jewellery, including necklaces, bracelets, earrings and brooches.

From Jurassic fossils to Victorian costume, there will be plenty of objects to inspire you.

No previous knowledge is needed for the one-day jewellery workshop, and there will be lots of tips for both beginners and those with some experience of jewellery making already.

The workshop will also include a demonstration of bead weaving and lots of practical advice on getting started and making more of your own trinkets and treasures. Participants in the workshop will make two pieces of jewellery to take home.

The jewellery workshop takes place on Saturday 27th February 2010 in the Activity Centre, St Johns Museum, Warwick between 10.00am – 4.00pm. Tickets are £25 each and spaces are strictly limited, so advance booking is essential. To book, please telephone 01926 412069. Participants will need to bring a packed lunch.

This workshop is one of Heritage Education’s first of the year from their Outlook programme of community activities. Further events, including talks, walks and craft workshops are planned throughout 2010.

To find out more about these fun, informal events that unlock Warwickshire’s Heritage, get hold of an Outlook leaflet from your local Library, or find out more by contacting Heritage Education at http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/heritageeducation or by telephone on 01926 412069.
