Polesworth pupils get a careers insight

Year 9 students from Polesworth School in Dordon are this Friday to be challenged to think about careers and have the chance to talk to real professionals on the jobs available.

The ‘Careers 4 U’ event has been organised by the Warwickshire Education Business Partnership, a part of Warwickshire County Council, which aims to make school pupils better prepared for the world of work.

The event will provide students with an insight into different careers, which may help them to make more informed decisions about their immediate futures, especially with regard to their forthcoming GCSE option choices.

The students will have the benefit of hearing from business representatives from companies such as:-  RAF, Twycross Zoo, Warwickshire Police, North Warwickshrie Borough Council Sports Development, Warwickshire County Council Early Years, KTL Engineering, Clear Image Photography and Interling Translations.

The visitors will talk to small groups of students about their job roles, qualifications required, entry routes, and career progression opportunities.

The students will have the opportunity to ask questions and to gain as much information as possible as well as taking part in various activities based around widening their knowledge of different career choices and labour market information.
