Warwickshire Trading Standard Service has free copies of a new drivers guide to give away. The guide is produced by the Trading Standards Institute (TSI) with the backing of HPI and Motor Codes Limited.

“On the Road – A guide to buying your first car”

The booklet aims to help new motorists make informed decisions about their future driving activities and includes information on:

learning to drive
buying a car

road safety

Warwickshire County Councillor Richard Hobbs, Portfolio Holder for Community Protection, is keen that Warwickshire’s new drivers receive a copy of the booklet. “Buying your first car is an exciting time for young drivers. Ensuring that they are aware of their rights and responsibilities so that they don’t get caught out is vital.

Nicola Johnson, Consumer Services Manager for HPI said: “HPI is delighted to be supporting TSI in their endeavour to guide young car buyers through the minefield of buying their first car.

“It’s easy to be taken in by shiny paintwork, but the fact is with unscrupulous sellers constantly finding new ways to con unsuspecting buyers out of their cash, there’s much more to it than simply relying on what the eye alone can see. “
Motor Codes Director Chris Mason said: “The new booklet sets out how young drivers can find honest and reliable garages that charge fair prices and provide straight forward explanations of work required are the golden choice for any motorist.

“There is also helpful advice on what to do is things go wrong, including a free advice line - 0800 692 0825.”
