Face of Bedworth One Stop Shop retires
An award-winning customer service advisor for Warwickshire County Council, who has been a familiar and friendly face to many people visiting Bedworth’s ‘Warwickshire Direct’ One Stop Shop at King’s House, retires from her post this week.
Jeanne Newitt, who has worked for the county council for 34 years, will say goodbye to colleagues and be the star of a special presentation on Friday to thank her for all her hard work.
Jeanne recently won an award for ‘Always going the Extra Mile’ as part of national Customer Service Week.
Compliments about Jeanne, which counted towards her awards nomination, included, “Jeanne is the face of welcome to Bedworth One Stop Shop and knows everyone by name, and where to direct them”, and “she always looks in depth to help and answer any query from any customer.”
Ben Campbell-Gibbons, Operations Manager for Warwickshire County Council’s Customer Service Centres in the North of the county, said: “As receptionist and captain of the good ship One Stop Shop, Jeanne has steered staff and public to their destination with efficiency, grace, charm and good humour.
“She retires with our good wishes and heartfelt appreciation.”
Jeanne plans to spend her retirement taking up artistic pursuits and spending time on the allotment with her husband.
Staff working at the ‘Warwickshire Direct’ One Stop Shop and Customer Service Centre in Bedworth’s Kings House provide information and advice on a variety of council and other services.
Councillor Heather Timms, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for Customers, Workforce and Partnerships, said: “It’s important that we recognise individuals who make a special effort to help people, and Jeanne is one of those people.
“I’d like to wish Jeanne all the very best for her retirement and thank her for all her hard work during her 34 years with Warwickshire County Council.”
