Education skills expand

The expertise of the Warwickshire Education Business Partnership in preparing youngsters for the world of work is now being supported in Birmingham.

On Thursday, Year 8 students from Great Barr School in Birmingham will be taking on an Enterprise Challenge co-ordinated by the partnership with a sustainability theme.

The event will involve the 12/13 year olds taking part in a business simulation where they will represent a Fashion House preparing to launch a new ‘green’ collection.

The students will have to design and make an outfit and accessories from recycled materials. The activity will involve financial and marketing decisions as well as concentrating on teamwork, communication, problem solving and of course creativity skills along with reinforcing the importance of recycling. The end of the challenge will culminate with a Grand Fashion Show where teams will model their outfits.

Business representatives from the local area will be on hand to help guide the students through the activity and offer assistance where required.

Warwickshire Education Business Partnership, a part of Warwickshire County Council, is working to help youngsters better prepare for the world of work.
