Have a horrid half-term at the library
Warwickshire County Council’s Library Service will be celebrating all things horrid this half-term in five fun-packed events across the county.
The popular Horrid Henry Books by Francesca Simon will be the theme this February holiday, featuring snippets from the stories, horrible crafts and puzzles. Children will be invited to come dressed as their favourite Horrid Henry character with the chance of winning a book from the series.
A quiz will test young people’s knowledge of the naughty character’s exploits plus a treasure trail around the library will lead to clues that will solve the wicked word.
The joke corner, the Golden Gizmo Game, silly sign and many other activities are designed to keep youngsters imaginatively occupied throughout their visit to the library.
Elaine Barker, from Warwickshire County Council Library Service, said: “Horrid Henry is an incredibly popular book character whom many children have read about or watched on TV. By promoting these books we hope to have an uproarious afternoon enjoying the stories and creating our own activities to take home. For those children being introduced to the books for the first time or wanting to try new ones, there will be lots of copies available to borrow on the day.”
Tickets are available at £2.50 per child available from participating libraries. Children are encouraged to book ahead to avoid disappointment.
