Phone-in to help parents with teenagers

Parents in Warwickshire are being invited to take part in a phone-in that could help them improve relationships with their teenagers.

On 10 March, the Parent’s Matter Service – part of Warwickshire Youth Justice Service – is holding their fourth ‘Parents Matter Survey’ to ask mums, dads and carers about the services they would like to see in order to make family life easier.

There will be an opportunity for them to call 01788 331256 anytime between 4pm and 8pm on 10 March to speak to sessional workers about any issues they may be facing while their child is in his or her teenage years.

Vicki Barnes, Team Leader (Interventions) for Warwickshire Youth Justice Service, said: “Parenting is never going to be an easy task, particularly during a child’s teenage years, so the aim of the survey is to find out what additional support we can offer to make life easier.

“During the phone-in, parents and carers will be able to get advice and information about a range of issues, find out more about lunchtime drop-in sessions countywide and tell us what they think others could benefit from.

“The results of previous surveys suggested people in rural areas felt they would like additional support, so we increased group work sessions. We also introduced lunchtime drop-in sessions in Rugby, Warwick and Nuneaton after parents told us they would benefit from somewhere to talk informally about their family life, so it really is worth taking part.”
