Going Red for Heart
Adults with learning disabilities at a county council service in Rugby have been ‘Going Red this Feb’ in support of The British Heart Foundation’s National Heart Month.
Rugby Community Support Services (CSS) will be celebrating all things red on Friday 25th February to raise money for the national charity.
Claire Kalinaukas from Warwickshire County Council said: “Over the last few months we have been looking at healthy eating and healthy lifestyles. So when we heard about this campaign to raise funds, and awareness about heart disease, we were keen to get involved.
“It’s going to be a fun day. Everyone’s going to pay £1 to wear something red, and we are going to make red cakes and biscuits. I hope lots of people in Rugby get involved!”
Alison Malcolm, manager of the service, said: “‘It’s great that people are keen to get involved and support such a worthwhile charity.”
In 2009 the Red for Heart Campaign raised over £1.8 million pounds and this year they are hoping to raise even more.
