Wanted: Older People to shape the future – Warwick District

Warwickshire County Council is putting out a call for dynamic and enthusiastic older people from the Warwick District to play a vital role in shaping the future direction of services for older people across Warwickshire.

Following a review of membership of Warwickshire’s Older People’s Partnership, volunteers aged 50 or over are now being recruited to participate in the work of this group.

There are currently two voluntary positions available as five representatives have already been appointed. The successful candidates will represent older people in their community and will work with others to make a real difference to the way services are provided.

Warwickshire’s Older People’s Partnership focuses on the well being of older people and preventative services. Through voluntary posts, older people themselves will be working alongside other partner organisations to ensure the views of older people are at the centre of future services.

Chris Lewington, Service Manager for Carer & Customer Engagement at Warwickshire County Council, said: “The Older People’s Partnership really is about listening to the views of Warwickshire’s older people and making positive improvements to their lives.”

“This new post is a fantastic opportunity to engage in the decision making process to ensure older people’s voices are heard.”

“We are looking for people who really want to engage in the future of older people throughout the county. Although these posts are voluntary, expenses will be paid and applicants should be enthusiastic and committed to making a difference.

"They should also have some experience of working at a strategic level, be good communicators and able to make a commitment to co-ordinating the views of older people in their area.”

For more information, or to express an interest in the voluntary posts- please contact Amanda Burn on 01926 742971. The closing date for expressions of interest is 26 March 2010.
