Voices of experience are heard
A new countywide network, formed to voice the concerns of older people in Warwickshire is setting the agenda about how people want to live in later life.
Some 100 people representing Warwickshire Voice of eXperience - VoX -joined together at the Benn Hall in Rugby for a Question Time-style debate with an expert panel made up of the County, District and Borough Councils.
The event, the second of its kind, was dedicated to issues surrounding housing and the home and covered topics from the provision of extra care housing in the future, to the training and quality monitoring of home care services.
Chris Lewington, Service Manager for Carer & Customer Engagement at Warwickshire County Council, chaired the event and said: “Improved communication and engagement is one of the key concerns raised by older people and I think this event underlines the importance of bringing customers and officers together.”
Warwickshire Voice of eXperience has been set up to enhance the work of the older people’s forums across Warwickshire and to give a broader, countywide voice about older people’s issues.
The network meets four times a year and meetings takes place in a different part of the county each time. The next event will take place on Thursday 10 June at Stratford Racecourse, and the theme is Prevention.
