The well-loved children’s books from Dr Seuss will be brought to life in two County Music Service productions next weekend.
Young people aged 9-18 from Warwickshire’s central Area Music Centre musical theatre groups will take to the stage at North Leamington School on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 March to perform the family show - Seussical.
The musical features characters from the Dr Seuss series of stories centred around Horton the Elephant and his best endeavours to protect the people of Who-ville, who live on a tiny speck of dust.
Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him, the only one who recognizes ‘his kind and his powerful heart’. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant, in a story that makes you laugh and cry.
Simon Grimshaw, Area Music Centre Manager said: “I’m really excited to bring this popular Broadway musical to Warwickshire. The young people involved, including a stage choir drawn form Brookhurst, Clinton, Milverton and St. Peter’s Primary Schools (and CMS staff) had a lot of fun with the project which offers a great opportunity for them to showcase their acting and singing.”
Both performances will be held at North Leamington School on Sandy Lane starting at 7pm. Ticket priced at £5 adults, £4 Senior Citizens, £3 for children or £14 for a family of 4, are available from the County Music Service, please call 01926 742630 for details.
