Library alterations delayed

Plans to temporarily close Wellesbourne Library for alterations on March 24 have been delayed. The library will remain open for business as usual for at least another month.

Divisional Library Manager Tanya Butchers apologised for any confusion or inconvenience caused by the postponement, and said the continued patience and support of Wellesbourne Library customers was much appreciated.“The planned alterations for Wellesbourne will go ahead - but not just yet,” she said.

“We have exciting plans to improve and extend the library to make room for a new Children’s Centre. The work will take about six months to complete and we were hoping to make a start later this month. However, the quotes were more than anticipated and we need time to retender for the work.”

As well as the new Children’s Centre, offering a range of activities for parents and under-fives, there will be other improvements to Wellesbourne Library. These include a new flexible training room, and the introduction of automated self-service checkouts for borrowing and returning loan items.

A further announcement will be made as soon as a firm date is set for the work to start. And details of a temporary mobile library service for Wellesbourne will be issued.
