Celebrating science
Budding scientists and mathematicians are having their after-school work celebrated this week at a special event.
On Wednesday Coundon Court School in Coventry will be hosting a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) event to bring together ASSEC (After School Science and Engineering Clubs) from across Warwickshire.
The Warwickshire Education Business will be posing a STEM challenge to the students in which they have to construct a small bridge made from paper tubes fastened together with nuts and bolts.
The bridge will then be tested to destruction to see how it copes with loads of various weights. There will be a prize for the students in the winning team.
The event will also incorporate activities and exhibitions from other organisations involved in the STEMnet organisation.
The event has been organised by Warwickshire Education Business Partnership, a part of Warwickshire County Council, which aims to help better prepare youngsters for the world of work.
