Care home joins Sport Relief
Memories of school sports days came flooding back for the residents of a Nuneaton care home as they joined the Sports Relief fundraisers.
Warwickshire County Council’s Caldwell Grange Care Home for older people in Nuneaton organised a traditional sports day and pub style quiz to raise money for Sport Relief.
Staff, residents and Day Care customers competed in a variety of events including an obstacle course, three-legged races and egg and spoon races.
Resident Derek Ross said: “We’ve had great fun and its bought back memories of sports day at school which I always enjoyed.”
Deb Adams, Activities Care Officer at Caldwell Grange, said: “Everyone was really keen to join in and help raise money, and after all the physical exertion we put our brains to the test by running a quiz night, to which residents invited family and friends.”
Tickets sold really quickly and the proceeds are going to Sport Relief.
Jacky West, manager of the service, said: “Staff have worked really hard to make the day fun for everyone, and it’s been great that people were keen to get involved and support such a worthwhile charity.”
