Extended Services serves up a net gain for all the family

From tiny tots up to grandparents, it will be game, set and match for Rugby residents at a free day of tennis later this month.

The Eastern Warwickshire Schools Sports Partnership and Harris School will be offering free tennis for all the family on Saturday 24th April at Harris Sports Centre.
Various free sessions will be run on the day from the tiny tot session through to cardio tennis for adults.

The tennis session is one of the extended services provided by the Central cluster of Rugby schools which organises activities beyond the classroom for all the family.

A recent venture saw schoolchildren transform Rokeby School into a restaurant and prepare healthy meals for their families.

Mel Evans, cluster co-ordinator for Central Rugby, said:  “I am delighted that there will be the chance for families to have a go at tennis.  Many of our extended services involve children and parents, and occasionally grandparents.

“Encouraging families to try sports together is a good way of encouraging several generations to take part in a healthy activity as there is a far greater chance that they will continue it.”
