Volunteers could help transform lives in Nuneaton
There’s another chance for volunteers to help turn around the lives of young people in Nuneaton.
Warwickshire County Council’s Positive about Young People programme is working in partnership with national charity ‘Youth at Risk’ to deliver the Community Transformation Programme.
This exciting project aims to help over 200 of the ‘most alienated and disengaged young people’ in the town recognise and fulfil their potential.
A series of training and coaching activities gives them the skills to help them improve their future prospects, and in doing so, benefit their communities.
As part of the ongoing programme, Positive about Young People is looking for a number of local practitioners already working with young people, and volunteers from the business and local community, to become coaches.
Three day training sessions, called ‘CHOICES’, will take place in the coming months at Kings House in King Street, Bedworth, on:
* First opportunity - 16 April from 6pm to 9pm and 17 to 18 April from 9am to 6pm (3 days);
* Second opportunity – 7 May from 6pm to 9pm, and 8 to 9 May from 9am to 6pm (3 days);
* Third opportunity – 16 July from 6pm to 9pm and 17 to 18 July from 9am to 6pm (3 days).
Parneet Kang, Development Manager for Early Intervention/Prevention at Positive about Young People, said: “The Community Transformation Programme offers young people working with us another chance to make the most of opportunities that may arise, helps them realise goals and how to best achieve them.
“It also provides practitioners and the local community with the chance to get involved in helping to turn around a young person’s life by becoming a coach and someone that the participants can look up to.”
If you are interested in attending or would like further information please contact Parneet Kang at Positive about Young People on 02476 754178 as soon as possible.
