Celebrating young people in Warwickshire

Showcasing the talents of young people across Warwickshire is the aim of an annual event celebrating those who have made a positive contribution to the community.

Warwickshire County Council’s Positive about Young People programme has organised the ‘Celebration of Partnerships’ event, which will take place at North Leamington School on Friday 30 April.

The event features individuals and groups who have all been involved in projects that help tackle disaffection among young people, and youth crime.

Warwickshire Crimestoppers champions ‘Streetz Productionz’ – made up of Whitnash-based rap group ‘Streetz R Watching’ and Rugby’s ‘Street Ikons Community Dance project’ – are due to perform on stage on the night.

Representatives from the Stratford Music Centre, young people from the GAP Community Centre and Escape Youth Choir are some of the others on the bill.

All of the projects involved in the celebration event have been set up to improve the lives of young people and make a positive impact on their local communities.

Michael Maguire, head of Warwickshire County Council’s Positive about Young People programme, said: “The celebration event is a chance for young people to show just some of the successes they have achieved with help from Positive about Young People and partners over the last year.

“Every year we are delighted by performances and the number of people who get involved, so I am sure this year will be no different.”
