Fishery changes at Kingsbury

Warwickshire County Council’s Country Parks service has changed the way that it manages the fishery at Kingsbury Water Park.

In addition to the day ticket fishery on the main entrance side of the park, the lakes on the Broomey Croft side are now being opened up to day ticket anglers.

This means that Gibsons, Kingfisher, Heron, Cliff Pool South and Broomey Croft pools are now available to fish on a £4.50 day ticket. Day tickets must be purchased from the Fishing Lodge located at the main entrance to the park, before fishing. Canal Pool will be remaining Specimen Carp permit fishing only.

Now that Spring has arrived and the lakes are finally free of ice, work on improving the fishery for 2010 can continue. Gibsons and Kingfisher pools have been stocked with around £5,000 worth of new fish, consisting of 1,000 carp and 400 tench, all approximately 10” in size to compliment the fish stocks already in them.

In addition, a partnership project between Warwickshire County Council and the Environment Agency worth more than £8,000 will see an improvement in access to Gibsons pool.

As part of the county council’s commitment to ‘Angling For All’ disabled anglers will be able to drive through a RADAR key controlled barrier at Broomey Croft car park and park at the southern end of Gibsons pool. We will be providing 150 metres of new footpaths to allow easy access to three new disabled fishing platforms. As part of the project we will also be constructing three large coaching platforms to improve facilities for our young anglers ‘on the bank’ tuition. Marginal shelves are also being created to provide improved habitat for Kingsbury’s wildlife. We hope to have the project completed by early spring.
