A share of £36,000 has been made available by County Councillors of the North Warwickshire Area Committee for one-off projects that address issues of local concern.

Last year 13 local groups received funding including:  Boxing Clever Academy, Merevale Media Services & North Warwickshire Cricket Club were just some of the lucky organisations to benefit from the fund.

Organisations must make their bids with the support of their local County Councillor. Applications are welcome from now onwards and must be received by the deadline of 7 June 2010.

The fund is run by Warwickshire County Council to help communities, particularly in more deprived parts of the county, address issues of local concern to them.
Once the bids are in, County Councillors in North Warwickshire will pick the successful applications at their Area Committee meeting on 21 July 2010.

Last year, Boxing Clever Academy received funding to assist 20 young people at Hartshill School to achieve credits towards individual Certificate Of Personal Effectiveness (COPE) qualifications through non-contact boxing activities.

Merevale Media received a grant to set up a community radio station for Atherstone and to train local people of all age groups and level of ability in local radio techniques to help run the station.

Funding was also awarded to the North Warwickshire Cricket club to help fund the replacement Astroturf surface at the ‘sports arena’.
