Walk to Work Week

A muffin calculator is just one way to see the benefits of stepping out next week as Walk to Work Week gets underway on Monday.

Warwickshire County Council is today urging businesses and residents to sign up for Walk to Work Week which runs from 26th to 30th April 2010.

People can register at http://www.walkingworks.org.uk/walk-to-work-week and record their walking journeys, which are then converted into the equivalent amount of muffins, CO2 or amount of times walked around Wembley stadium.

The site asks people if they can walk for part of the journey to and from work, walk at lunchtime, walk to a meeting or even hold a walking meeting.

Laura Vesty, a Sustainable Travel Officer with the county council, said: “If saving calories aren’t enough to inspire people to walk more, then think about the money you could save by filling up less often at the petrol station.”
