Amnesty comes to Bedworth
Due to the success of LPG cylinder amnesty in Nuneaton, Warwickshire County Council’s Fire and Rescue Service are now launching the campaign in Bedworth.
Firefighters are inviting residents in Bedworth to take part in the amnesty which will run from Tuesday the 4th to Friday the 14th of May 2010. The previous campaign in Nuneaton was a real success with 200 cylinders collected, a total of 2200 over 3 years.
LPG when used and stored correctly is perfectly safe, however if you had a fire in your home with a LPG cylinder, the consequences could be disastrous. If you have any unwanted gas cylinders lying around your house, under the stairs, in the loft, garden or garage, then drop them into Bedworth Fire Station. However, if you are unable to get your cylinders to us, then you can call the station on 02476 314376 or 02476 383131 and arrange for them to be removed free of charge by Fire Service Personnel.
Watch Manager, Mark Rattray said:
“This is a great opportunity to get rid of unwanted cylinders free of charge. By removing LPG cylinders from your home you are reducing the potential danger to yourselves, your family and fire crews. Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service is committed to making your home and Warwickshire a safer place to live in and this is one of the ways that residents can help us to achieve this.”
