Make sweet music during Adult Learners’ Week
Singing in the shower may be on the rise as a series of adult singing sessions have been arranged in a partnership between Ashlawn School and Warwickshire County Music Service (CMS).
During Adult Learners’ Week, singing, drumming and steel pan sessions are being provided as part of Warwickshire County Council’s extended services.
There are three sessions running simultaneously on Tuesday 18 May from 5pm with a further six sessions available later in the evening.
County Music Service choral specialist, Gillian Wormley welcomes newcomers to group singing whilst the service’s percussion specialist, Dave Jones, provides an introduction to the basics of drum kit playing.
The third session sees the CMS’ steel pan expert Nikki Bainbridge offer the chance to try the celebrated instrument. Places are suitable for adults and children aged 8 and over. They should be booked by calling the CMS Rugby area office on 01788 575489.
Cllr Izzi Seccombe, portfolio holder for children, young people and families with Warwickshire County Council, said: “This is a great example of what extended services can provide. Ashlawn School will be the focal point for families in the community to all come together. The sessions offer a great opportunity for all the family to go to school, perhaps be introduced to a new hobby or maybe just have fun together.”
