New-look Bedworth library reopens on May 13
The new-look Bedworth Library is now scheduled to reopen on Thursday May 13, three days after originally planned.
The library has been closed since April 19 for a ‘makeover’.
Improvements include a new children’s library, new layout, carpet and lending stock, plus self-service equipment for faster, easier borrowing and returns.
Divisional Library Manager David Reed apologised for reopening three days later than planned. He said contractors had worked on an unforeseen problem over the Bank Holiday to try and get the library open on time.
“The short delay will allow the new flooring to be completely finished,” he said. “It’s a question of safety first. We didn’t want to reopen with any unfinished joins between surfaces.
”Nearby Bedworth Heath and Bulkington Libraries have been open longer during the Bedworth makeover. Bedworth Library customers were invited to a coffee morning, on April 9 before work started, to find out more about the improvements being made.
David and his staff are eager to reopen the High Street library - and are confident local people will like what they see when the doors open on May 13.
