Half term IT for Rugby’s young people

Young people in rural parts of Rugby have a chance to gain nationally-recognised IT qualifications this half term thanks to a new scheme.

The three-day project, organised by Warwickshire County Council’s Youth and Community Service, is open to 13 to 19-year-olds and will allow them to study for up to 12 IT certificates each.

The programme will be held at Dunchurch Youth Club between 1 and 3 June with a range of qualifications on offer including Word Processing, Presentations and Spreadsheets.

Ian McLean, Locality Co-ordinator for Warwickshire County Council’s Youth and Community Service in Rugby, said: "It is a great opportunity for young people in rural parts of the town to build on their existing IT skills and strengthen their CV.

“Another benefit is that they can gain OCR accredited qualifications. Youth workers will be on hand to support any young people who need additional help to get to the required levels.”

A £10 deposit is required to confirm the booking, but it will be refunded when the young person attends the programme. Places are limited to eight people.

If you would like more information or are interested in taking part, contact Ian McLean on 01926 736500 or email ianmclean@warwickshire.gov.uk.
