New contact centre for older people to open in Atherstone
KAY ALEXANDER, BBC Midlands Today Presenter, is to officially open a new centre for older people in central Atherstone on Friday 21st May.
She will also dedicate the main hall to Age Concern Warwickshire’s late Patron, Norman Painting OBE, BBC Radio 4’s Phil Archer of The Archers.
At 11.30 am Kay will meet members of the Over 60’s Club, one of the users of the Centre, and officially open Partnership Centre in the presence of Mayor Councillor Johnstone and invited guests.
ACW have refurbished the building funded by grants from Warwickshire County Council and the Countess Eleanor Peel Charitable Trust and.
There are a growing number of services being offered from the Centre such as Information and Advice provided by Nuneaton and Bedworth DIAL, Counselling and Psychological Support. Further services are planned, e.g. Ageing Well activities, legal surgeries and much more.
Beeline, the local Health Appointment Transport Service, has moved into the office accommodation along with Alzheimer’s Society, providing local services.
There are also useful meeting and activity rooms for local community groups to hire.
ACW Chief Executive, Elizabeth Phillips, says “Warwickshire County Council have been highly supportive in allowing us to bring this building back to life, to provide a well equipped and comfortable centre for older people and their carers, to access and benefit from the services and support on offer.” (The premises are owned by WCC).
