Mechanical problems cause library delay
Mechanical problems mean Wellesbourne’s temporary mobile library service will be a week late getting started.
The mobile will visit Wellesbourne four days a week while the library in Kineton Road is extended and improved. The service was due to start this week (on May 25) but a problem with the vehicle, and a wait for replacement parts, has caused a delay.
“I am so sorry this has happened, but a week’s delay is unavoidable,” said Divisional Library Manager Tanya Butchers. “I know this is a real nuisance but please be assured that no-one will incur library fines or extra charges as a result.”
Tanya said the temporary service is now scheduled to start on Tuesday June 1, with the mobile library parking in the Village Hall car park as follows:
Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays 9.30am - 1.00pm and 2.00pm - 5.00pm
Saturdays 9.30am - 12.30pm
Wellesbourne Library is being extended to make room for a new Children’s Centre on site, and the library will be refreshed and updated at the same time. The work is expected to take around six months to complete.
New features will include a flexible training room for improved learning facilities, and a self-service machine to make borrowing and returning loan items quicker and easier. The new Children’s Centre will have a toy library and offer a range of indoor and outdoor activities for under-fives and their parents.
Wellesbourne is one of 34 Warwickshire libraries. The county also has a fleet of mobile libraries, visiting housebound readers and out-of-the-way areas, plus 24/7 online library services. For more information visit: warwickshire.gov.uk/libraries.
