Centres celebrate Volunteers Week
Volunteers Week is an annual event which celebrates the amazing contribution that volunteers make to society.
Organisations from the public, private and voluntary sectors will hold events across the Country during the first week of June (1 – 7) to thank volunteers for the voluntary work they do.
Warwickshire Volunteer Centres which consists of: North Warwickshire, Nuneaton & Bedworth, Rugby, Stratford and Warwick District are collectively working with 960 organisations and currently have over 2,100 diverse volunteering opportunities.
The Volunteer Centres in Warwickshire will be holding various events across the county to celebrate volunteers Week. The South Warwickshire Volunteering Forum (SWVF) will be promoting volunteering and recruiting volunteers in 3 town centres:
Tuesday, 1 June - Stratford: Maybird Centre
Thursday, 3 June - Leamington Spa: Royal Priors Shopping Centre
Friday, 4 June - Rugby: Clock Towers Shopping Centre
Additionally a breakfast networking meeting to support SWVF members will be held at Bath Place Community Venture in Leamington on Wednesday, 2 June between 8:30am -11:00am.
Volunteer Centre – Rugby will also be holding a Sports Volunteer Fair at Rugby School Sports Centre, Horton Crescent, Rugby, CV22 5DJ on Monday, 7th June 2010 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Sports clubs from around Rugby will be recruiting volunteers to help them i.e. coaches, administration, management etc. Potential volunteers will be invited to the event and informed of what volunteer requirements there are. Food and drink will be provided at the fair.
Volunteer Centres Nuneaton & Bedworth and North Warwickshire will be celebrating by holding a Picnic at Kingsbury Water Park from 12:30pm on Wednesday 16th June 2010. There will be lots of outdoor activities that you could take part in.
It would be great to see volunteers and their families enjoy themselves at any of the events mentioned to make Volunteers’ week 2010 a memorable one.
