Finalists do battle in Schools Road Safety Quiz

School teams from across the county took part in the finals of Warwickshire County Council’s annual Schools Road Safety Quiz.

In total 38 teams battled it out at the annual quiz held at the Spa Centre in Leamington Spa.

The Road Safety Quiz has been running for 12 years, but for the past four years it has been an interactive format and now incorporates a national theatre-in-education group – MoMo – to give a zing to the proceedings.

In all 90 schools and around 9,000 children took part in the preliminary rounds to decide who should go forward to the finals evening with around 150 children taking part on the night.

Once again, parents and teachers packed the gallery to support and cheer on the finalists and although scores between teams were very close, the winners were All Saints CE Primary School from Leek Wootton.

Stan Milewski, Principal Road Safety Officer, said: “This is one of the highlights of the Road Safety calendar and although it’s a fun evening, everyone takes it very seriously indeed. The quiz is a vital way of raising road safety issues to children of this age group. Everyone has really enjoyed themselves.”

The winners each received a gift voucher, the Road Safety Quiz shield plus £100 for their school.
