Incident at Dale Street, Leamington Spa
Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service responded to an incident initially believed to be an explosion in Dale Street, Leamington Spa this morning.
Greg Pace, group manager with Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service, said
"We were initially called to what was believed to be an explosion in a five storey residential building in Dale Street in Leamington. Our immediate priority was to deploy our crews with beathing apparatus to search the building and ensure that noone was trapped inside and to isolate the area.
"The cause of the incident was in fact a collapsed ceiling. The debris triggered smoke alarms and the dust had given the impression of smoke. We have now scaled down our operation and we are grateful that noone was hurt. We would like to thank everyone for reacting responsibly and in the right way to this incident."
