Coleshill Library immortalised in prose
A story inspired by Coleshill Library, and written by a former Warwick Poet Laureate, has been published in the latest edition of a national magazine.
The story, Knitting in Zambia , appears in the current Woman’s Weekly Fiction magazine (May 21 - July 2). Written by Helen Yendall, who was Warwick Poet Laureate 2006-7, it features Coleshill Library, its staff, and the Knitting Group that meets there.
“As the Coleshill Knitting Group make items to send to Zambia and the Bonnie Babies Charity, Helen’s story is set in both the library and Zambia,” said Lyn Wimbush, Senior Library Assistant at Coleshill Library. “There is a little poetic licence involved but it’s a brilliant story and we are really pleased and flattered.”
Not only has Helen immortalised Coleshill Library in her short story, she has made a donation to the Knitting Group from the money she received from the magazine. The grateful knitters will be using it to buy a stock of buttons, which they badly needed.
