Exhibition for Stratford’s budding artists
Pupils from Stratford High School were invited to see their art work displayed at a special exhibition in Warwick last week.
Warwickshire County Council’s ICT Development Service set up the temporary showcase at its Wedgnock Lane offices and welcomed guests including school staff, governors and parents to come and admire the exhibits.
The corridor of art presents 15 works of art by year 7, GCSE and A-level students from the school. The acrylic and mixed media artworks have been copied and mounted for more impact in the display, and to give a real gallery feel to the art space.
John Parmiter, Head of ICT Development Service said: “We offer this space to Warwickshire schools to exhibit their pupils work and we rotate the displays on a termly basis. The project has proved to be an excellent way to showcase the talent and creativity of young people in Warwickshire to the many people who use our facilities.”
Chris Owen, Head of Art at Stratford High School said: “When we heard about the opportunity to display pupils’ work at Wedgnock House we felt it was an invitation we couldn’t refuse. I’m really pleased that the county council gave us this chance to honour the achievements of our talented pupils in this way.
“The standard of pupils’ work was very good so it was difficult to select the pieces to exhibit and in the end we chose to represent work from different curriculum key stages. We would like more people to enjoy this work so when the exhibition comes to a close at the end of the summer term we will be display the pieces in our new sixth form centre.”
The art is also exhibited online alongside work from other Warwickshire schools on the Warwickshire Learning Platform. This resource is available to pupils, parents and staff at county schools and provides a range of information, advice and communication tools to users.
