Boredom-busting youth provision in Bedworth and Keresley
Sport, accredited courses and outdoor education are just some of the activities available to young people as part of youth provision in Bedworth and Keresley.
BHK, set up by Warwickshire County Council’s Youth and Community Service, is available to 10 to 19-year-olds at three centres throughout the week, including:
Bedworth Youth Centre, Croxhall Street (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings);
Bedworth Heath Leisure and Activity Centre, Smorrall Lane (Monday, Tuesday and Friday evenings);
Keresley Village Community Centre, Keresley Village (Monday and Tuesday evenings).
The project encourages young people to take part in a range of positive activities including arts, organised excursions and alcohol and drugs misuse education, as well as supporting them in finding education, training and employment.
Trained youth workers can also offer sexual health education and Chlamydia screening services in partnership with Warwickshire’s Respect Yourself Campaign and NHS Warwickshire.
Matt Mancini, Locality Co-ordinator (Bedworth) for Warwickshire’s Youth and Community Service, said: “The Youth and Community Service has been working hard to offer a wider choice of activities and services for young people in Bedworth and Keresley.
“Programmes such as BHK are a good example of this and ensure that 10 to 19-year-olds have somewhere to go, something to do and someone to listen while doing something positive in their communities.”
School holiday activities will also be available during the summer, delivered in partnership with Nuneaton & Bedworth Leisure Trust, PAYP and Extended Services. Activities are available as part of the Integrated Youth Support Services, working closer together to meet the needs of young people.
