Public meetings on proposed increases

A series of public meetings will be held across Warwickshire to give local people a chance to ask questions and have their say on proposals to increase charges for some adult services - including home, day and respite care.

The proposals, if implemented, would help Warwickshire County Council make the significant savings made necessary the economic downturn. Other local authorities already charge their customers more.

The meetings are part of a three-month public consultation on the proposed changes. All feedback received will be reported to members of Warwickshire County Council’s Cabinet before they make a final decision in October.

John Bolton, Strategic Director of Adult, Health and Community Services, said: “We would encourage people who are taking part in the consultation to complete the questionnaire that is available, and not just to put the ticks in the columns but to write in the boxes we’ve provided, so that we have a real understanding of why someone thinks something might impact on them in a negative way."

Cllr Izzi Seccombe, Portfolio-holder for Adult Social Care, said: "We are asking people to feed back their thoughts, their views and their opinions. We will do our level best to incorporate what we can from the feedback into how we develop the change, and to accommodate what we can within the budget."
