North Leamington residents get their say

An update on the new Justice Centre, housing services, community safety and more will be on the agenda at the next meeting of the North Leamington Community Forum on Thursday 8 July.

The Forum will be held at St.Paul’s Church, Leicester Street from 6pm.

The meeting is open to all residents in the Milverton, Clarendon, Manor and Crown wards of Leamington Spa. Community Forums are regular public meetings that allow you to raise issues or local concerns and are a way of keeping you up-to-date with what is happening in YOUR community.

At the Forum meeting, local people will be able to have their say on the top priorities that their Safer Neighbourhood Team should focus their efforts on in the local area over the next few months.

Residents will also be able to find out about the Assisted Travel Scheme consultation and there will be a presentation of the bids made to the Community Forum Grant Fund, so local residents can help decide which community projects receive funding.

Local groups who have applied for the funding are:

• Lillington Youth Club, who want to set up a Football Club and start playing football at Manor Park, where there are currently no nets on the goal posts. They would like funding to buy the nets, so they can organize football matches with other Youth Clubs.

• The Noah’s Ark Club (for under 5s) and Rainbows (for under 8s), who would like to buy some new chairs for their childrens’ groups to use when they meet at Lillington Free Church Hall.

• Older People in Action, who would like to carry out a consultation with Older Peoples Groups in North Leamington, particularly to identify the aspirations, needs and concerns of isolated older people.

• Campion Hills Allotments Society, who would like to increase the number of small plots for people starting to grow their own food, particularly families with young children and those with disabilities.

Part of the meeting will be taken up with a special “Table Talk” session, where residents will have the opportunity to talk and ask questions about those items that are of most interest to them in more detail – while grabbing a cup of tea!

There are 30 Community Forums across Warwickshire and local residents are encouraged to go along and have their say on any local issues, as well as set local priorities. Upcoming Community Forum meetings in Rugby borough are:
