Park View stage a coop
Staff at Warwickshire County Council’s Park View Care Home for Older People took steps to making their residents’ wishes happen. In fact they took over 10,000!
When asked if there was anything they would like to see in the home, residents mentioned a chicken coop and run to watch in the garden.
So teams from the home and the county council’s communities and well-being team got into their running gear and completed the 10km run from Warwick to Kenilworth Castle. With sponsorship money still coming in, they have raised over £500 to pay for the coop, a run, a foxproof fence and some birds.
Annis Tombs, manager of Park View Home, said: “We asked residents what they would like to see in the home and the chicken coop proved a popular suggestion. We’ve got a few blisters to show for our efforts but it will be worth it.”
Helen Coltman, health and staff support officer at the county council said: “We are committed to supporting residents of homes for elderly people to enjoy an excellent quality of life. This was a simple matter of going the extra mile, several times over, in fact!”
