Banbury Road, Heathcote Lane Junction Roadworks

Work at a busy junction in Warwick is now drawing to a close as the new traffic signals switched on for the first time last week and staff are currently undergoing monitoring and final adjustments to optimise their performance.

The scheme is the culmination of 10 years of work associated with the Warwick Gates Development and is entirely funded by the developer.

The switching on of the traffic signals marks the end of six months of major construction work at the junction. Despite problems resulting from poor weather conditions and utilities the scheme was completed in time for the summer season and on budget.

The scheme is expected to result in reduced congestion at the busy traffic junction.

Councillor Alan Cockburn, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for Environment and Economy, said “I am delighted that this long awaited scheme is now complete and will greatly benefit the residents and visitors of Warwick and those visiting the Warwick Technology Park.”

Councillor Angela Warner (Warwick South) agreed and added “This scheme improves the immediate area for residents of Warwick, whether they are pedestrians, cyclists or motorists.”
