Building Careers in Construction
What are the career opportunities open to young people entering the Construction Industry?
KS4 students from Coventry and Warwickshire are about to find out in an event organised by Warwickshire Education Business Partnership and Warwickshire College.
Over 10 secondary schools across Coventry and Warwickshire will have a ‘hands on’ opportunity to see the range and diversity of career prospects in the Construction Industry.
The event will be supported by key stakeholders from the Construction Industry, including Galliford Try, Kier Moss, Morgan Sindall, National Grid/Electrical Alliance, Lovell Partnership Ltd, Bam, ROK, WCC Bridges, Warwickshire College, Royal Town Planning Institute, CEL/Shaw Group, RIBA, Sir Robert McAlpine, Carillion, E.ON UK, The National Association of Women in Construction and TPS.
A variety of hands-on workshops will be available for students to gain an insight into different aspects of the industry and meet the experts. An exhibition will also be on hand for students to inform them of a wide range of career prospects - from the professional and technical grades to the practical trades.
“This is an interactive, inspiring and informative event, ideal for aspiring construction engineers, builders, surveyors and those who wish to embark on college courses related to the construction industry.
"We hope to engage young people and demonstrate the diversity of the industry and are delighted that so many schools are participating.” Debbie Ellis, Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) Manager, for Warwickshire Education Business Partnership.
