Summer fun in Warwickshire
Summer is here and Warwickshire’s Country Parks have lots of special events going on to keep visitors entertained.
All the event details are contained in a new bumper 45-page booklet is packed with things to do at all of Warwickshire County Council’s Country Parks during 2010.
MONDAY 26 JULY
Lovely Ladybirds at Kingsbury Water Park
Drop in and see how many kinds of ladybirds you can spot and then make your own ladybird hat to take home. An event for children up to 8 years who must be accompanied by an adult.
Time: Drop in between 10.30 a.m. and 1.00 p.m. Meet: The Information Centre. Cost: £2.00 per child.
Rubbish Robot Challenge at Ryton Pools Country Park
Come and rummage in our robot spare parts junk pile and take on the challenge to make a new recycled robot to take home. For children aged 5 to 12 years who must be accompanied by an adult.
Time: 11.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. Meet: The Visitor Centre. Cost: £3.00 per child.

TUESDAY 27 JULY
Woodland Dens at Kingsbury Water Park
Make a woodland den using branches and twigs. Bring a snack to have in your den once the hard work is done. A family event but not recommended for children under 5 years.
Time: 10.30 a.m. to 12.00 noon. Meet: The Education Centre. Cost: £3.00 per child.

Dragons of the Pond at Ryton Pools Country Park
Come and find out what special features dragonflies, damselflies and their nymphs have. Take a look in and above the pond with the Ranger and see if you can spot any. For children aged 3 to 12 years who must be accompanied by an adult.
Time: 11.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. Meet: The Visitor Centre. Cost: £3.00 per child.

Flying Kestrels at Pooley Country Park
Dive in to make your own kestrel from willow and paper. As you move the kestrel it will flap its wings! An event for children up to 12 years who must be accompanied by an adult.
Time: Drop in between 1.00 p.m. and 3.30 p.m. Meet: The Visitor Centre. Cost: £2.00 per child.
WEDNESDAY 28 JULY
Kingsbury Water Park Young Anglers
The first of a series of 6 sessions during the school summer holidays for children aged 8 to 14 years to have a go at angling and learn the essentials of good angling. Come along as many times as you wish. Suitable for beginners or those with some experience; no equipment required.
Time: 9.30 a.m. to 12.00 noon. Meet: The Information Centre.
Cost: £5.00 per child, per session.

Willow Magic at Ryton Pools Country Park
Use natural willow to weave things like butterflies, dragonflies, snails, stars, fish and flowers. For children aged 3 to 12 years, who must be accompanied by an adult.
Time: Drop in between 11.00 a.m. and 2.00 p.m. Meet: The Visitor Centre.
Cost: £2.00 per child (includes 2 items, additional items £1.00 each).
Woody Tiles at Pooley Country Park
Decorate your own log slice to create a colourful picture or pattern. Use it to brighten up indoors or out. A family event.
Time: 10.30 a.m. to 12.00 noon. Meet: The Education Centre. Cost: £3.00 per child.

THURSDAY 29 JULY
Wild Woods Survival at Ryton Pools Country Park
Den Building at Pooley Country Park
Learn how to build a den using branches, twigs and vegetation. For children aged 5 to 12 years who must be accompanied by and adult.

Beautiful Butterfly Trail at Kingsbury Water Park
Collect your trail sheet from the Information Centre, find the missing facts to crack the code and claim your prize. A self led trail for children up to 12 years
Cost: £1.50 per trail sheet.
FRIDAY 30, SATURDAY 31 JULY & SUNDAY 1 AUGUST
Barmy Badger Trail at Ryton Pools Country Park
Follow the black and white trail to find out some barmy facts about badgers. Suitable for children aged 3 to 12 years. Trail sheets available from the Visitor Centre between 11.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m.
Cost: £1.50 per trail sheet.
