Less trouble to tip rubble
Warwickshire residents are being encouraged to think twice before taking construction waste to their local household waste recycling centre.
Hardcore, rubble and soil is not classed as household waste therefore Warwickshire County Council reserves the right to refuse acceptance of this material.
However, householders may deposit the equivalent of up to 3 x 25 kg bags (75 kg total combined weight) per month at one of the county’s nine recycling facilities.
Cllr Alan Cockburn, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for Environment and Economy, said: “We are encouraging residents to consider using bulk bag services offered from local DIY stores or skip hire for more substantial works.
"Members of local online reuse networks such as communityfreebay and Freegle often need hardcore for building projects while local allotments may be an outlet for good quality top soil. These solutions could save you the cost of disposal plus any unnecessary vehicle mess, and wear and tear.”
Warwickshire County Council will accept hardcore, rubble and soil on a chargeable basis at Princes Drive Household Waste Recycling Centre in Leamington Spa and Hunters Lane Household Waste Recycling Centre in Rugby.
