Cylinder Amnesty re-launched!

Due to the success of a LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas) cylinder amnesty in Nuneaton, Warwickshire County Councils Fire & Rescue Service is extending the campaign to North Warwickshire.

Firefighters are inviting residents in North Warwickshire to take part in the amnesty which will run from Monday the 12 to Friday the 23 of July 2010.
Watch Manager, Andy Bates said: “This is a great opportunity to get rid of unwanted cylinders free of charge. By removing unwanted LPG cylinders you are removing any danger to yourselves, your family and fire crews.

"Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service is committed to making your home and Warwickshire a safer place to live in and this is one of the ways that residents can help us to achieve this.”

LPG when used and stored correctly is perfectly safe, however if you had a fire in your home with a LPG cylinder, the consequences could be disastrous. If you have any unwanted gas cylinders lying around your house, under the stairs, in the loft, garden or garage, then drop them into Nuneaton Fire Station.

However if you are unable to get your cylinders to us call on 0780 8910209 and arrange for them to be removed free of charge by Fire Service Personnel.
